Teeth Whitening
Teeth Whitening or in other words bleaching uses a strong oxidizing agent to lighten the teeth is a relatively conservative and often highly effective way to brighten your smile. Dentist might recommend home whitening or a combination of home and in-office whitening depending of the nature and severity of yours discoloration.
Whitening treatment steps from the consultation to the final result explained:
1. At the initial consultation dentist will check patients’ teeth and periodontal readings as it is important that there are no decays or gum disease present. Once dentist finds no contra indications, with the patients consent she can go ahead and take impressions for the whitening trays.
2. The impressions then are sent to the laboratory and it takes around 2 weeks for the whitening trays to be produced. In a mean while, patient is given a tooth serum to use at home which prepares tooth tissue for the whitening and strengthens enamel to reduce upcoming sensitivities.
3. Two weeks later patient visits the practice for a whitening tray fit and receives whitening kit.
4. A whitening gel is placed in custom made bleaching trays which are worn overnight for a
couple of weeks until the teeth reach the desired colour or as prescribed by the dentist.
5. Additionally, patient can have in-office bleaching after the home whitening which allows the maximum whitening experience that is possible in each particular case.
